West 117th Street Corridor Plan

County Planning is working with the cities of Cleveland and Lakewood on a plan for West 117th Street. The goal is to explore ways to improve transportation and find new development opportunities. The plan will look at the challenges and possibilities along the road and create recommendations for better transportation options, upgraded infrastructure, and possible transit‑oriented development. Because the corridor sits between Cleveland and Lakewood and is close to the West 117th Street–Madison Avenue Red Line Station, it has the potential to grow into a busy destination and transit hub.

The West 117th Street Corridor Plan began in summer 2026 and will run through July 2027. It will study zoning, land use, transportation, and economic development. Engineers will also examine traffic and safety to help make responsible decisions about the corridor’s future. Public engagement will be an important part of the project. Updates about public meetings and ways to get involved will be posted on www.countyplanning.us/w117th and on County Planning’s social media accounts.
